DTM 1/20 2018 Ferrari SF71H Build Part 4 - Nose & Front Wing Decals
DTM (Model Factory Hiro) 1/20 Multi-Media kit.
There are only a handful of parts on this kit that come with corresponding carbon fibre decals. The nose is one of them, and unfortunately it is inaccurate. The front wing supports areas are the wrong pattern, and the kit doesn’t include decals for the inside portion. Furthermore, due to the modifications of the wing supports I made earlier, the decals would have to be modified accordingly. First I cut the silver stripe so I could apply it separately from the CF. I also cut the small rectangle in the front that would go onto the front wing support. I’ve also showcased the difference between the provided CF pattern, and the Scale Motorsport box-weave I’m using instead.
I applied the carbon fibre pattern first on the nose.
All the decals are now applied on the nose, but I’ll need to touch-up some gaps that the decals left with acrylic. I’ll do this before clear coat.
In the photo above, not the carbon fibre decals placed on the inside of the wing supports that aren’t included with the kit. The shape is just traced from the shape of the provided outer wing support decals, and applying these was easier than masking that difficult-to-access area to paint with black.
Finally, that little rectangle I cut out in the first step is applied to the short support on the front wing.
